We’re one of the oldest photographic clubs in the Wakefield District, and we are a friendly and enthusiastic group of photographers with a wide range of experience, so whether you’re the latest digital kit or using film cameras you’ll find yourself among like minded people. We cover all subjects including landscape, natural history, portrait, figure, architecture and general record. We use the large concert room at Brookhouse Club where we are able to stage our demonstrations, work nights, and model nights as well as hosting visiting speakers from around the country. Have a look at our calendar to see what is coming up. We look forward to welcoming you to the club.

    Hi there

When is the next meeting being held.. I’ve finally upgraded to my first Sony DSlr and would like to find somewhere to go with like minded others who will be able to show me how to get to grips with the settings etc and take better pictures without using auto and find some new places to go and explore..

Hi Lucinda, the next meeting is on the 4th January. You are most welcome to come along as there will be many club members available to make you welcome and answer any immediate questions you may have with your new DSLR.

Looking to get competent with my CanonEOS400D over time then apply
Is this an aspect of club expertise?

Hi Bill. Thanks for posting the comment. We have quite a large membership with all different levels of expertise, from people starting out to some very highly accomplished photographers. Everyone is happy to share their knowledge and experience and you will be most welcome at any of our meetings on a Monday evening at Brookhouse Club. There are plenty of Canon users (probably about 40% of the members) who can assist you – I had a 450D myself – so please come down. You don’t have to become a full member straight away so you can try it for a bit to see if it’s what you want. Just make youself known when you arrive (Trevor, our treasurer, is usually at a table near the door collecting money) and we’ll try to make feel welcome. The meetings are upstairs at Brookhouse Club starting at 7:30 but it would probably be best to be there a bit earlier so there’s chance to chat to someone. Cheers Steve Wright, Webmaster.

I am interested in joining your Camera Club, I am a complete novice and wondered if it was ok to join.

    Kind regards

Hi Debbie. I’m sorry I have not replied earlier but I have been on holiday so have not seen your comment. We are a club for anyone interested in photography, no matter what there level. You would be most welcome at any of our meetings and there will always be people who are willing to explain things and help you get to grips using your camera. You don’t have to become a member so you can try us a out for some meetings to decide if it is for you – just ask to speak to a committee member when you arrive and they will sort things out for you. The details of the next meeting are always on the front page of the website (wakefieldcameraclub.org.uk) and the calendar on the website may give more details. I’ve passed your query on to another committee member so you may hear from them shortly. Look forward to seeing you, Steve Wright, Webmaster
