Clubman 5 – Wildlife
Jonathan Neale, a member of Wetherby Camera Club, was the judge for the fifth and final round of the Clubman Digital competition. The set subject was Wildlife.
Wildlife is the genre of photography concerned with documenting various forms of wildlife in their natural habitat. Wildlife is not limited to animals, birds and insects. Marine subjects and botanical subjects (including fungi and algae) taken in the wild are suitable wildlife subjects. All vertebrates and invertebrates are also eligible. Landscapes, geologic formations, photographs of zoo or game farm animals, or of any living zoological or botanical species taken under controlled conditions are not eligible to be included. Images of domestic animals are not allowed. Post processing restrictions are identical to those for all Applied competition
It soon became very apparent that Jonathan was judging his ‘Chosen Subject’, his knowledge and enthusiasm for Wildlife contributed to a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Jonathan commented several times that the standard was very high and this was evident in the scores awarded.
Jonathan was able to provide some excellent feedback as to how many of the images might have been improved by perhaps looking for a different background, giving the subject more, or less, space and for many of the images he was able to tell the story of the image, bring the images to life.
One member described Johnathan’s judging as the best this year and another knowledgable, concise and consistent.
Congratulations to everyone who entered and for making it a great evening and of course extra congratulations to our winners.
