Novices to the fore.
The meeting on Monday 2nd February saw the latest Novice digital image and unmounted A4 print competition. This is an informal competition for members who haven’t been placed in any of the club’s main competitions. Entries are voted on by members on the evening and it’s a great way to start having your work judged. The evening also gives members a great opportunity to catch up with others and talk over all matters photographic so there was quite a buzz about the room with various debates about the merits of the competition entries, the latest activities or projects people had been involved with, photographic software and, as always, no shortage of advice as to how to improve. Entries were also being collected at this meeting for the first round of this year’s Clubman Competition so there was added spice to the evening. Towards the end of the evening all the votes were counted and the winners announced. In the print category Keith Barras came third with A House, Steve Ininns second with Tigger the Tiger and first prize went to …… Steve Ininns again with Puppy. In the digital image category there was a joint third place with Martin Fenton’s Invisible Couple and Keith Williams’ Sunday Morning Sail. Second place went to Tiger by Pulak Sahay. Congratulation to them all and a gallery will be added shortly to showcase their talents.
