Success at the YPU Exhibition 2014
On Saturday 3rd May there was the Annual Assembly and Exhibition of the Yorkshire Photographic Union (YPU). This is a chance for members of all the 67 clubs in the YPU (Wakefield C C is one) to show off their photographic skills. The prints and projected images are on view at the Bankfield Museum, Boothtown Road, Halifax, HX3 6HG, until the 31st of May, should you wish to go and see them. The museum itself is well worth a visit and also on exhibit are prints from the last hundred years of Halifax Photographic Society.
So how did we do? We submitted;-
- 41 prints, 12 were accepted, 2 gained certificates, 1 gained an award and 2 were selected to represent the YPU at the PAGB. A gallery of the prints can be seen below.
- 58 projected images, 13 were accepted, 2 gained certificates and 1 was selected to represent the YPU at the PAGB. A gallery of the images can be seen below.
The chances of having an image accepted is about 1 in 8, with prints we achieved 1 in 3.42 so that’s much better than the average. With projected images we achieved 1 in 4.46 again much better than the average.
We have one member with an award. Sally, as President, collected the Mabel Bruce Trophy for the best Architecture or General Record Print; – “Selby Abbey” by Phil Gledhill. Phil also received a Certificate for Wicked Hair”.
John Bickerdike received 2 Certificates for “Girl in Window” and “The Investor”.
Possibly the most pleased Wakefield C C member, Jack M Bunn received a Certificate for “Lesley”.
Well done to all the member who entered, even if they failed to be selected, it’s the taking part that helps the Club to flourish.
