Next Meeting

At 19:30 on Monday 1st June Wakefield Camera Club will be meeting on Zoom for the judging of the 3rd round of the Clubman. This is also the submission date for your Maurice Biglin (digital only entries). Watch out for details by email or in the newsletter.

There will be no further face-to-face club activities until further notice. We will keep you abreast of the situation with the members newsletters. The calendar on this website will also be kept up to date.

A third place in the YPU Club Championship (print) helped along brilliantly with a acire of 15/15 by member @pineapple_pix on Sunday amidst storm Ciara and tonight a fabulous evening is planned for the Mersea Island competition, lots to see as the scores are added up to find the top club....

Haydn Bartlett had the task of judging the first r

Haydn Bartlett had the task of judging the first round of the Clubman competition. Round 1 had the set subject of Street Life. Haydn tackled the task with enthusiasm and was able to provide the authors with many useful feedback points for them to take into the next round.

Haydn was clear from the start that he was looking mainly at composition and the use of light.

Our next meeting is on Monday 3rd February – Judging of the 1st Clubman of 2020 –
A guest judge will be making sense and order from the print and digital entries for the 1st Clubman round of five for 2020.

The subject is Street Life, essentially any image taken outside in an urban environment that includes some human or animal elements.

Tomorrow we welcome wildlife photographer Simon Roy with his presentation
'Garden Nature Photography'
Jan 27 @ 19:30 “Often working close to home, I specialise in garden wildlife and the relationship between people and nature. My aim is to make original, inspiring, and thought-provoking images that raise awareness of the creatures we live beside.”

Simon is an award-winning wildlife photographer based in Yorkshire. He hopes to expose the beautiful, fragile, yet enduring nature of our British wildlife. His work is widely published and has been highly commended in the British Wildlife Photography Awards, International Garden Photographer of the Year, and Bird Photographer of the Year competitions.

Our next meeting is on Monday 9th December – Annual General Meeting – it is an indispensable part of our activities for the year. It is tonight when we receive reports from our officers and we learn how the finances are doing. All the officers and committee are up for election (or re-election) and the members have the chance to vote on the people who will fulfil the roles.
It may sound quite dry but there’s a lot of information about your club and how it is run, and a genuine chance to get involved.

Afterwards, for all those that wish to do so, we intend to adjourn to the Aagraar Indian restaurant across the road so why not come along and have a say in how your club is run!
