The Results go Mobile
April here already, and haven’t I been given a problem, with the quality of this months online competition “Going Mobile”. I must say first, that all of the entries have been of outstanding quality. so here we go.
1st – The Ups and Downs of Life – This image is outstanding for both its quality and its content and also for the black and white treatment, which is unusual in a mobile phone image. The figures in the background are just about ideally placed to give the subject some scale. Well done to the author.
2nd – Food for Thought – I am not particularly a sea food lover but this image nearly changed my mind, well presented and photographed the only thing I may have changed would be a small trim off the top of image (is that a hand appearing?). Congratulations.
3rd – The Future – Let’s hope that this is not the future, A very likeable image with plenty of detail and everything contributing to a well presented photograph.
Highly Commended – Mobile Astronomy – Just proves how wrong you can be, This is probably the last subject that I would have thought of for a mobile photo shoot. Very capable and detailed shot of our nearest celestial neighbour. Well done (Now I have learnt something).
Commended – Mud Wrestling – Yes well, I believe this photographer needs a commendation for bravery. Well spotted and unusual image with an interesting subject matter. It may well have been improved with a slight crop all round. Congratulations on something different.
Commended – Yellow Brollies – Here we are April and full of the joys of spring (well almost), great image, great expressions. Well done especially to the kids for being SO patient with the photographer. And well done again.
I Do Like To Be Beside The Seaside – I Liked this image a lot and then started to notice some odd things about it, the main thing is the top of the yellow deckchair and the dark shading, the sea joining the beach. I suspect that this may be a composite and a reasonably competent attempt. Like the idea and the colours, just needs a little more attention to detail. Well done.
Blossom – April time and blossom a good combination and the colours in this photograph make it spot on. I think maybe a slightly different angle and this would make a good spring image. Congratulations.
Ralli Museum Uruguay – A nice shot of the museum courtyard the colours are great, The only thing that spoils it for me is the lack of detail in the black statues, detail in the shadows and the whites are not completely gone. Well Done.
Sunset – A lovely sunset that I have enjoyed looking at with the wonderful colours in the sky, I think that the only thing missing from this image maybe some small detail in the sea (yacht or boat) but in spite of that well seen.
Yarnbury – Just the sort of photograph to make you wish you were there, Sunshine and snow the only thing missing maybe from this shot is a person in the middle distance just to stop the eye wandering to quickly to the horizon. A view that should be savoured.
The Tower – An unusual view of The Tower and Tower Bridge a lovely view with plenty to look at and explore. Well done.
Hillsborough – A good well exposed shot of Hillsborough football ground, Blue is the colour and football is the game, so maybe a slightly different angle and may be remove the additional text, yet again well done.
Matera – I do Like this image a lot, and it does make me want to visit it, The problem I have is in the rendering of the image, which I believe needs to be a little more subtle. Other than that I like the view point of the valley and buildings. Well done.
I must say thank you to everyone for entering this months competition, as I have found the overall quality of the images totally outstanding and very difficult to judge, To the winners congratulations, to the runners up you have nothing to be ashamed of as the competition was of such a high standard.
