Members' Showcase

We have great photographers in Wakefield Camera Club. Their interests may be diverse but their skills are always excellent! Consequently, our programme includes the chance to showcase what they've been up to behind the lens. In the latest of these evenings, Neil Scarlett and Peter Wells stepped up to the plate to talk about some of their work.
Pick-and-Mix, was Neil's aptly titled talk which was a look across a variety of his favourite subjects including birds, insects, plantlife, railways, people, music and travel. Neil modestly talked about his love of photography stressing that he took pictures for himself. If others liked them, that was a bonus. Judging by the audience reaction, they certainly did. Neil's thoughtful compositions and careful consideration of lighting was captivating.
By contrast, Peter's showcase was about one aspect of photography, namely infrared work. Peter explained that six or seven years ago, he picked up an infrared converted camera on a well known auction site. This camera now travels with him alongside his normal digital kit. His images explain for themselves why so many people love this style of photography. Peter's pictures were fascinating; demonstrating the infrared charecteristics of glowing vegetation, contrasty darkened skies, pillowy clouds, hyper detailed textures and often with an etheral glow.
Our members really appreciated the time taken in preparing and presenting these two terrific showcases. Expect another evening like this later in the year.
